Guy Blank is Jerri Blank's father. After his beloved daughter ran away from home 32 years earlier, Guy's wife died and sometime later he married his current wife, Sara. By Sara he fathered Derrick. At some point after his eldest child flew the coop and before she returned—after having been released from the latest of many prison stays—Guy Blank slipped into a catatonic state. After seeing a slight reaction to Jerri's presence, the family physician, Dr. Putney, believes that having his little girl back may be just what the Blank family patriarch needs to snap out of his coma-like state. Jerri believes that if she can make her father proud by winning the Science Fair she'll be able to get him back and try to make up for 32 years of lost time together.Guy Blank is played by Dan Hedaya |
