Friend-iversary It's 8:53pm and Amanda is recording her vlog for her imaginary fans. This particular vlog entry is about Betty's recent need to choose between a boring-but-dependable egg salad sandwich and a spicy Italian salami sub. Of course Amanda was really referring to Betty's Henry/Gio situation. Before she could reveal which "sandwich" Betty chose, Amanda is interrupted by Marc, who reminds her that it is their fourth "friend-iversary." They end up getting in a "Dynasty"-style catfight, which happens every year, and then they make up by sharing the aforementioned sandwiches.

They set up hairspray cans to use as pins and Marc uses a disco ball, that he just happens to carry around in his bag, to try to knock them down. Marc proves to be an impossible pupil, being unable to topple a single pin, at least not until Amanda gives him a huge rubber ball to throw. They end up making a mess and run away.

Amanda opines that in a pinch the Mode offices wouldn't be a bad place to live, then she confesses to Marc that she has $25,000 in credit card debt. She tries to pretend that she didn't just say what she said, then turns off the lights so they could go to sleep.

Trapped in the Elevator It's 8:17pm and Marc and Amanda find themselves stuck between floors in Mode Elevator 2. At 9:45pm they console themselves by thinking about the skinny, hot corpses they'll leave behind if they should die in there. Amanda confesses that she's had an erotic dream about someone from the office whose name rhymes with Schmetty Buarez. At 3:34am they begin to think that if nobody is outside the elevator to rescue them, then they must all be dead, so it'll be up to the two of them to repopulate Earth. Just as they're about to engage in an awkward kiss, the elevator starts moving and they notice the surveillance camera overhead, which recorded it all.

 | | Big Package It's 9:43pm and Amanda gives Marc a package that had been delivered for Wilhelmina. Marc opens it and finds a gift that Wilhelmina had been planning to give to Connor. Marc thinks that it would be best to just add this to Amanda's "me pile," which consists of mail that she has chosen not to deliver to employees. They then pretend that it's Christmas and open some of the parcels. One is a book for Betty from Matt. Another is an engagement ring catalog for Daniel. One is even addressed to Marc himself, a girdle he had ordered for Cliff before they broke up. Marc wonders if Cliff was his soul-mate, but Amanda says that he wasn't, because she is.

April Fools
It's 8:57pm and Amanda and Marc are thinking that it will help company morale if they play April Fools pranks on their co-workers, starting with Betty. Amanda plans to scare Betty by wearing a chupacabra mask, while Marc has replaced the frosting on Betty's doughnuts with mayonnaise. Marc is displeased to see that Amanda has started eating, and enjoying, said doughnuts. He is skeptical about the supposed merits of these doughnuts, until Amanda shoves a piece in his mouth. Marc then wonders if their pranks are being foiled because the gods are favoring Betty for her goodness. By 9:02, Amanda has collapsed on the floor and Marc is contemplating the perils of taunting karma.

He tries to distract her with lights and a disco ball, but she quickly turns her attention back to her chocolatey leporine reward.

Breaking the Band
It's 8:27pm and Marc and Amanda are planning to compete in a karaoke contest, but first they must decide who'll sing lead and who'll sing back-up, so they ask the guards manning the security camera to be judges. The first round, falsetto, is awarded to Amanda. For the second round, they have to improvise some song lyrics. Marc composes a little ditty about Betty and Matt, while Amanda just sings her grocery list. Marc doesn't wait for the judges' decision to determine that he was the winner of that round. For the final challenge, they demonstrate their "best rock star moves." Amanda vamps towards the camera, so when the judges vote for her, Marc feels as if her victory wasn't earned based on talent.

He is supposed to interview someone who has a job equivalent to his at another magazine. Since all New York offices are closed, Amanda suggests that he should wait four hours to call Mode UK. At first, they have a difficult time dealing with their British counterparts, Clark (or is it Klarc?) and Samantha, but when Marc hears Clark berating an unfashionable co-worker named Felicia, the fab trans-Atlantic confab starts to get flirty. The guys bond over their stringent aesthetic requirements; that is, until they each see what the other looks like.

When Marc Met Mandy It's 9:24pm and Marc and Amanda are reminiscing about the day that they met. Marc remembers the moment when she, filthy-faced and dressed in a burlap sack, wandered into the Mode office looking for a job. He called for security, but then he softened a little and told her that perhaps they could use help answering phones. He then brought her down the hall to try on a golden piece of closet couture, and thus a fashion starlet was born. Amanda remembers the encounter differently. In her version, she arrived wearing the little gold number, and when Marc saw her he tried to impress her with a cheesy pick-up line. Marc supposedly then told her that if he couldn't have her, then he would have no woman... ever.

She tells him to pretend to be Wilhelmina, while she pretends to be him. Amanda/Marc asks Marc/Wilhelmina to give Amanda a raise, so Marc/Wilhelmina proceeds to fire off a litany of Amanda's faults (she's a simpleton, lazy, a bimbo, etc.). Amanda then breaks character and mocks Marc for not being able to get a promotion over Betty. They quickly realize the error of their ways... They should have been pretending to be Marc/Betty and Amanda/Daniel instead.

When Amanda sees an IM pop up from GreaterGatsby69, Marc's actual screen name, she returns the flirting on Marc's behalf. Marc checks his Zagay guide to find a restaurant for them to hook up at that evening, but some of Amanda's comments cause him to realize what is really going on.

Amanda then introduces Marc to her relaxation program, which is designed to reduce stress and increase productivity. Amanda then comes close to deafening Marc by blaring the sound of ocean waves from the office's sound system. Unfortunately, Marc finds all of Amanda's suggestions to be more stress-inducing than stress-relieving. Marc then comes to the realizations that Amanda's chance for advancement at Mode might be as a stylist.
