Matt walks Betty home from a date and at her front door he gives her a hair clip in honor of their "monthaversary". At around the same time, Archie walks Hilda to the back door. He moves towards her to give her a kiss, but they are both clumsy, so the kiss doesn't happen. Justin is not pleased to be told that he has to go camping with Ignacio and Elena. Betty tells him that they planned the trip with him in mind, but he says that if that were true they would have planned it to include mud baths and ginger facials. Hilda assures him that there will be plenty of mud. Wilhelmina is startled to hear Connor singing "You Are My Sunshine" outside her bedroom. She finds him holding baby William, but then she wakes up and realizes she was just dreaming. Daniel tells the staff that the first "Sex Issue" of Mode will be released in just three days, so they will have to make sure that it makes a big splash when it hits newsstands. Betty suggests writing a tie-in feature for modeny.com, which Amanda will contribute to. Wilhelmina has a difficult time staying awake in the meeting because of her restless night. When Marc later finds her sitting upright at her desk, eyes wide open, and not responding when he tries to get her attention, he starts to freak out, thinking that she is dead. She snaps out of her stupor and tells him that she was just taking a nap. She also tells him that she wants him to find a nanny to take care of the baby st night. Amanda suggests that for their blog entry she can write about "fun sex" and Betty can write about "boring relationship sex". She is shocked to learn that Betty and Matt haven't had sex yet. Betty assures her that they're heading in that direction. Later at home, Hilda tells Betty that some guys just need a little push in the right direction to get things started. At Molly's apartment, she tells Daniel that she would like to write some poetry and read it at a local poetry slam. At the end of Betty and Matt's date, they walk to his place and she suggests that she come up to see his new wall colors, but he rushes her into the first taxi that approaches. So Betty goes home and Hilda complains about how Archie doesn't seem to be able to keep his hands off her. Betty can't appreciate Hilda's situation because she can't seem to be able to get Matt to touch her. The next day, Amanda tells Betty that she can't be subtle. She also offers to teach Betty how to be sexy. Betty only agrees after Amanda says that this could help them with their blog article. Daniel invites Betty to Molly's poetry slam and he shows her one of the poems. Although Daniel thinks that the poem is just about the ocean, Betty tells him that the imagery in the poem is composed of metaphors about their sexual intimacy. Amanda brings Betty to her apartment, where Marc has been waiting for them to arrive for Betty's seduction training session. They ask Betty if they can get rid of the braces and glasses, but she assures them that they can't. Wilhelmina is awakened once again by the sound of a man in the next room and she goes out to investigate wielding a baseball bat. This time the man is not Connor, and she is not dreaming. The good-looking young man turns out to be James, the new night nanny. Hilda goes out with Archie again and just as it seems that she is about to tell him that she doesn't think that they should see each other anymore, a woman named Felissa comes over to their table and says that the biggest mistake she ever made was letting Archie slip through her fingers. Daniel tells Molly that he jotted down some notes about her poem, coming from an editorial point of view. He tells her that he'll find it embarrassing to have a poem about their intimate moments read aloud in public. Hilda starts to get jealous when she sees Felissa fawning all over Archie. Matt shows up at Amanda and Marc's apartment to pick Betty up for their date. He's a little taken aback when it becomes clear that Betty hopes to seduce him and take their relationship to the next level. He tries to rush her out of the apartment, telling her that the movie they're going to see starts in twenty minutes. He tells her that he he can't be with her that way and he leaves the apartment. After dinner, Hilda and Archie end up having sex in her salon and she reveals to him that she had been planning on breaking up with him earlier, until Felissa made her realize that dumping him would be a mistake. Archie is upset that Hilda was going to dump him, until another woman showed an interest in him. Willi questions Marc about James's qualifications and Marc assures her that he is totally qualified because he used to be a model and he had done a diaper commercial. He then confesses that he had been hoping that James could have also provided Wilhelmina with "other services" besides just being a night nanny. Marc and Amanda question Betty to find out what she did wrong to scare Matt off the way she did. Betty says that Matt hasn't called or even texted her yet, so she needs to go to talk to him. Outside Matt's building, Betty, Amanda, and Marc see Matt heading out somewhere, so they follow him, even though Betty doesn't want to. Then they see him approach and hug some blonde woman. Marc and Amanda push Betty out from behind the mailboxes where they've been hiding. Matt asks Betty what she's doing there. The woman then introduces herself. Her name is Helen and she is Matt's therapist. She invites Betty to join them for Matt's session. In Helen's office, Matt tells Betty that he is attracted to her, but he confesses that he had made an agreement with Helen that because of all the meaningless sex he'd had in the past he wouldn't have with anyone else until he felt that they had really connected. He made this appointment with Helen specifically to determine whether or not he might be ready to be with Betty. Daniel tells Betty that Molly won't be reading the sexual poem in public after all. Betty tells him that if Molly is brave enough to read her innermost private thoughts in public, he should be brave enough to allow her to do it. Hilda tells Betty that she called Archie and apologized, and she's expecting him to come over to talk. Betty tells Hilda that she doesn't know if she wants to be among the hundreds of girls that Matt has been with. Felissa shows up and tells Hilda that she wants her to back off and leave Archie alone, because she wants to get him back. Archie walks in just as their fight is getting physical. That night, Wilhelmina starts to pull out all the stops to seduce James, but when she sees that the baby made a mess on his shirt she has him take it off so she can wash it. Matt brings Betty to the poetry slam and she gets uncomfortable when she sees some woman greet him from across the room. Matt assures Betty that he only knows her from the coffee shop in his neighborhood. When Willi returns from the laundry room, she hears James singing "You Are My Sunshine" to William and she bursts into tears when she pictures Connor in his place. Daniel apologizes to Molly for trying to keep her from reading her poem and he tells her that he wants her to do it. James holds Wilhelmina and tries to comfort her. She tells him that she just wants to have sex, but he tells her that he thinks that she just needs closure. She thanks him for his advice, then she fires him. Betty is concerned when their waitress hands Matt their bill and she leans in to whisper something in his ear. Betty then sees every woman in the bar as a threat and she imagines that they're all wearing white tee-shirts, each with a number printed on the front that represents one of Matt's sexual conquests. Archie gets rid of Felissa and assures Hilda that Hilda won't be bothering them anymore. She then tells him that she has decided that she'd like to see what it's like to be with a nice guy for a change. Matt finally invites Betty over to his apartment, but she tells him that she doesn't want to feel like a number. He tells her that she is a number, she's number one. Just as she's about to find a cab, Matt pulls her into the lobby of his building. Back at Molly's apartment, Daniel serenades her with a song that he used to sing with his high school band.
