After Henry's return to Tucson, the Suarez clan tries to keep Betty's spirits up. The news of a new Meade heir hits the TV airwaves, which facilitates Wilhelmina's return to Meade Publications, but since Daniel runs Mode and Alexis runs the parent company, Willi's exact position is unknown. She tells Marc that she intends to divide the Meades, primarily by focusing on Daniel. Claire gives Betty a writing assignment for her new Hot Flash magazine. Amanda prepares to do a new reality TV show called "Daddy's Little Girl" with Gene Simmons. Gio tells Betty that he thinks that she wants him to be her "rebound guy" and he kisses her, which prompts her to slap his face and run out of his deli. While Betty tries to write her article for Claire, she receives an instant message that contains a picture of Gio kissing her, and everyone else at Mode has received the same picture. Wilhelmina's presence at a meeting completely unnerves Daniel and she later undermines him with Alexis. Tony asks Hilda to chaperone a dance at the school that evening. Amanda tries to keep Marc from being on her reality show by telling him that Gene Simmons hates "the gays," but when Gene meets Marc he asks him if he'd like to be on the show. Shortly before the dance, Hilda comes down with a cold that she's caught from Ignacio, so Betty volunteers to take her place as a chaperone. Marc implies to Amanda that Gene is much nicer to her when the TV cameras are turned on. Betty tries to interview one of Justin's schoolmates for her article, but she quickly learns that the girl she's speaking to is Gio's little sister, and it turns out that Gio is also there as a volunteer. While Daniel is interviewed by Larry King, a call comes in with tough questions for Daniel, who thinks that the caller is Marc (speaking with a woman's voice), but Larry tells him that the call has actually come in from Vermont. Wilhelmina gives Claire some unsolicited, but useful, advice on attracting advertisers for her magazine. Amanda discovers that Gene's Tweetie Bird tattoo is a fake and realizes that he has just been pretending to be her father to get some publicity. Betty tries relaxing a little bit and agrees to dance with Gio, but she quickly tenses up and tells him that she can't do it. Justin keeps an eye on Coach Diaz for Hilda and reports to her, via cellphone, on a regular basis throughout the evening. Daniel and Claire are taken aback when Alexis reinstates Wilhelmina as Creative Director of Mode, thereby fulfilling Willi's plan to drive a wedge between the Meade siblings. Having been tipped off by Justin that Hilda likes him, Tony shows up with soup for her and asks her to go out with him sometime when she feels better. Wilhelmina thanks Marc for the call he'd made to the Larry King show, using the Vermont cellphone she'd told him to purchase. After walking Betty and Justin home, Gio wishes Betty luck with her article and she ends up asking him if he'd like to go on a date with her, but he tells her that he doesn't want to be the rebound guy, he wants to be "the guy."
