Alexis's shocking announcement causes great commotion at Mode and the Meade home, naturally, but also at the Suarez home, as Betty and her family watch Tim Gunn report the story on Fashion TV. Alexis is hounded by reporters when she enters the Mead Publications office building, but she doesn't mind at all. Daniel visits Bradford in jail, and the senior Meade insists that he is innocent. Henry invites Betty to see the Broadway hit, Wicked, the next night, but she tells him that they'd have to go as friends, because of Walter. Alexis shows up at Daniel's staff meeting and announces that she's taking over the company, because of instructions in the company charterwhich wasn't updated after Alex's supposed deaththat put him/her in charge in the event of Bradford's death or incapacitation. Alexis promptly fires Daniel and names Wilhelmina as the new Editor-in-Chief of Mode. Daniel gets a temporary injunction by challenging some technical details in the charter: Alex was declared legally dead, Alexis is not the Meades' "oldest son" anymore. Wilhelmina wastes no time going around the office and firing employees, but she is soon notified by Alexis that she'll have to wait to settle into her new position. Ignacio shows up at Mode to let Betty know that Walter has been offered a job managing a Pro-Buy location in Maryland, plus he was hoping to get a close look at "the she-male." Hilda isn't please to see Justin being brought home from school by Santos, because their son had gotten into a fight at school. Santos blames the way Hilda has raised him for making him a target for bullies, but it turns out that Justin was the one doing the beating up of another student, who was making derogatory comments about the way that Hilda dresses. Betty chooses to babysit Daniel's mother, Claire, rather than go to lunch with Walter. While at a spa together, Claire advises Betty about her Walter/Henry dilemma and tells her to dump Walter. Alexis holds a press conference in the lobby of the Meade Publications building, but Daniel interrupts and the two siblings battle for the attention of the assembled reporters and photographers. Betty and Claire conspire to get Daniel and Alexis to the bumper cars at Coney Island. While in exile at home, Wilhelmina spies on Mode employees by having Marc carry a hidden camera around. Alexis tells Daniel that she wanted to get back at their father because Bradford had said that if Alex went through with the sex-change surgery he'd/she'd be out of the family as well as out of the family business. When Daniel drops Betty off at home Walter is still waiting for her. She's about to tell him that they should break up, but before she can get the words out he says that he has seen it coming for quite some time and he's decided to accept the job offer in Maryland. Just as Betty is getting excited about going to see Wicked with Henry, now that she's officially a free woman, she learns that his ex-girlfriend has just arrived in town and hopes to get back together with him. Daniel gives Betty his credit card and sends her to the hotel where his mother is staying, so she can pay the hotel bill. Alexis and Daniel decide to try working together, instead of trying to edge each other out of the company, but Wilhelmina isn't pleased to witness this entente. Claire, in a drunken stupor, tells Betty that she knows that Bradford is not guilty of killing Fey Sommers, and she admits to having done the foul deed herself.
Trivia: Ashley Jensen (Christina) does not appear in this episode. Wilhelmina's maid, Evelyn, watches the same telenovela that the Suarezes watch, "Muchas Muchachas." According to Hilda, Justin was conceived in the back seat of Santos's rented Camaro. Santos later hints that this occurred on Prom Night. According to Claire, Daniel lost one of his pinky toes after Alex pushed him into an icy lake in January.
