The Suarez family learns from a lawyer that Ignacio could be deported. Amanda asks Daniel if he ever found out which girl had the watch he'd lost, but just as she's about to admit to him that she had it he gets distracted when he sees a beautiful woman walk by. He ditches Amanda and gets into the same elevator with the hot woman. In addition to coming up with ideas for Mode's "Must List" for 2007, Wilhelmina also has to deal with the strong character of her daughter, Nico, who will do just about anything to get her mother's attention. Daniel, the Casanova, meets his sexy Latina at a meeting of Managing Editors. He thinks that she's there as a member of the catering staff, but it turns out that she is popular author Sofia Reyes, whom Bradford has just hired to be Managing Editor of Meade Publications' new weekly magazine, MYW. While trying to sell Herbalux outside a health club, Hilda meets lawyer Leah Stillman, who might be able to help with Ignacio's immigration problems. Nico is nabbed for shoplifting, but Marc (and Wilhelmina's name and reputation) get her out of trouble, once again. To raise $20,000 to help their father fight deportation, Betty and Hilda try to sell Herbalux at the Mode offices, but Wilhelmina puts an abrubt end to their enterprise. Then Wilhelmina gives Betty a check for the full $20,000, but Betty knows that if she cashes that check she'll find herself in Wilhelmina's pocket and she'll ultimately have to betray Daniel. Bradford visits Fey Sommers' crypt on her birthday and he thinks that he catches a glimpse of her observing him. When she learns that her mother is about to ship her off to school in France, Nico makes one final attention-seeking act by protesting the wearing of fur in the lobby of the Meade building, but Wilhelmina steals her thunder by wrapping herself in a fur coat and pretending that the whole thing was a publicity stunt to promote the "Must" issue of Mode. Ignacio reveals to his daughters, after Betty confronts him with a puzzling photograph, that their mother had previously been married to a man named Ramiro Vasquez, whom Ignacio had worked for as a cook, but the man had a habit of abusing her, so one night when coming to the wife's defense, Ignacio accidentally killed his employer. Then Ignacio and the Widow Vasquez, who had fallen in love with each other prior to el patron's death, fled to the United States.

Trivia:  The last time Daniel had gotten stuck in an elevator in the Meade Publications building he was in there with Kevin Federline for four hours.
