Ugly Betty is the ultimate story of a square peg in a universe of round holes. The bespectacled Betty Suarez is the true beauty in the skin-deep world of high fashion, but she toils as the assistant to dashing womanizer Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius), editor-in-chief of fashion industry bible "MODE." Both are newcomers to the ultra-competitive fashion scene, and need to constantly beat back attacks from their jealous enemies—fashion diva Wilhelmina (former Miss America Vanessa Williams), her toadying assistant Marc (Michael Urie) and conniving receptionist Amanda (Becki Newton). Away from the glitz of Manhattan, Betty lives in Queens with her family—her loving father Ignacio (Tony Plana), spitfire sister Hilda (Ana Ortiz) and fashion-obsessed nephew Justin (Mark Indelicato)—who lend her support whenever she is in need.

Ugly Betty: The Complete Second Season
The Second Season basically picks up right where the First Season left off... Daniel and Alexis are alive after their accident, but are hospitalized; Claire and Yoga are on the run; Ignacio is still stuck in Mexico; Hilda and Justin are recovering from the aftermath of losing Santos; Amanda is searching for her real father; and Wilhelmina, with Marc's help, is still trying to take over the Meade empire. Through all of this, Betty is trying to be there to help the people she cares about, but she's got her own dramas to deal with... primarily her on-again-off-again relationship with Henry, and sparks will fly between Betty and the new "sandwich guy" at the Mode offices, Gio Rossi, a passionate guy who shows Betty another side of herself that she didn't know existed.
